I’m celebrating love today and abundance that comes to all of us in different forms.
Can we see or hear or feel when this happens for you?
For me, it’s a feeling in my heart.
Story time; I have a long time friend that you’d never guess would be one of my besties. A now almost 60 year old former Rastafarian former hippy guy who’s been in my life for almost 20 years.
20 years! And with about 6 dogs between us.
We connected years ago when he ran a local “doggy day care” and over the years he’s become “the one” that takes dogs that have come my way but that are really meant for him. This has saved me a few times.
Such a humbling lesson, that. Animals come to me a lot, and not all are meant for me. The first dog he took of mine was a 125 pound dog that looked like a legit bear. This dog was found wandering the Grand Canyon. He was a sweet, albeit feral guy, and at the time having 5 little kids wasn’t suiting him.
My friend took him in and that was the beginning of our deep friendship. My dogs are part of me, yet I have been led to share some of them with this man who otherwise I’d guess I don’t have anything else in common (note: I’ve learned so much from him over 20 years, random wisdom and advice and I’ve been so lucky to have him on my side in LIFE).
Fast forward to now, when he took in two of my aging dogs that were being cared for on the mainland. They just got to his house in Arizona 2 days ago and my heart is so full.
My heart is full because he is a true friend to me and I can feel his love; for our family and for these dogs. And my heart is also full because HIS heart is full. Without any kids of his own in this life, his 23 DOGS (yes you read that right) are his family.
This sort of abundance can’t be quantified.
It’s the feeling of love; for our friends, our family, our animals. And the sharing of these connections. I have this deep knowing that THIS is how our world should go. This is how we can live; give and receive. More for you is more for me. Love is so expansive.
There are so many causes and people to support, I get that. My friend Isay is my top choice to donate to. He takes in dogs that have been abandoned, whose owners have died or gone to jail or a shelter. He is guardian angel for dogs that truly would be left to die.
This man truly is a gift, not just to our family but to the world. He is doing God’s work, every day through these animals.
If your heart is open to it, you can also donate to him personally to help care for the 20+ dogs he cares for every day. Many of them are older and need medical care, and I don’t know anyone as appreciative as Isay for the gifts he is given. Financially and otherwise.
Just hit reply and I’ll give you his personal Venmo for this in-home dog rescue.
May your weekend be full of love, in all the ways that love and abundance come to us.
Xoxo
Maryn
