I grew up with a really good dad; and I have a very awesome husband and seem to be raising pretty amazing men.
Yet the anger for the patriarchy and for men thinking they know “better” for women is under my skin right now.
You know how multiple scenarios will come in at the same time? As if to remind you that this inner struggle/issue/wound needs to be healed.
I do believe the abuse by the patriarchy is pretty far reaching, especially as someone that specializes in birth and other initiations of the feminine. And I know the “Patriarchy” is a construct as well; of the feminine and the masculine. It isn’t really about MEN per se, but yet in our daily experience it can feel that way.
It’s feeling that way.
My surf lesson yesterday was both simultaneously cool and had so much teachings that mostly I will credit the ocean for. My not-usual coach (a woman) has been off island, so I had a lesson with a male coach that I actually considered to be so wise.
And he is wise. But his need to have the lesson go his way was unmistakable; I could read into it that he felt like little woman me was relying on that. But, I wasn’t, and I didn’t really enjoy the format of the lesson as much, and I did speak up. But it wasn’t really received, which I think is a common theme sometimes when women speak up to men. They just keep going.
And THEN I got wind of yet another “initiative” (that to me is a positive sounding word whereas this situation feels old and tired) of trying to criminalize women who are “acting as midwives” in Canada. The press release or whatever it was, was truly the words and energy of the patriarchy. (Funny, it may have been written by women, I don’t know).
Women are dumb. Women are silly. Women don’t know what they are doing without our help.
I don’t believe this. I also don’t live it, yet here I am feeling it. Because it is still in the collective and I am mad about that.
If you are too, even sometimes, remember that we are so powerful that people are literally afraid of our power even if they don’t realize it. That is where the desire to make women small comes from. If we all spoke up, stood up, walked out…….eventually our power would not be hidden anymore.
So here is your opportunity today to speak something that is uncomfortable. Here’s your permission to SAY IT AGAIN if no one hears you.
And we keep going. Teaching our daughters (and sons) how powerful their vibration is and perhaps one day the theme shifts.
Have a great weekend!
PS And on that note, Circle meets this weekend. Circle is an opportunity to sit with other conscious and wise women who don’t necessarily hate men, but do take into account all the ways we’ve fed into false beliefs about our power. This is an authentically powerful group of women and I am so happy to call them sisters. Apply here.
