Each story that I tell on Midwife Stories is sacred.
Stories are so odd if you think about it. They are a combination of reality and fantasy and what we remember, all seen from the viewpoint we have now, at this moment.
I am so fascinated by stories and sharing my own has allowed me to have this really cool perspective that is current me seeing the story now.
In this latest recorded story, I tell a tale of a very premature birth. I have so many curiosities even now about why, how, when and who this happens to. Probably because it’s in my code, the code of my own body.
I was a preterm baby.
But this story isn’t about me, it’s just told by me and telling it gave me so much appreciation for the mama and baby that lived it. That’s the thing about most stories we share in the birth space; there were actual people that lived it, and sometimes they have happy endings and sometimes they don’t.
This one does actually, even though there are plenty of stories that do not, and they are just as sacred and just as valuable to hear and learn from.
“Story cannot be ‘studied.’ It is learned through assimilation, through living in proximity with those who know it, live it, and teach it, more so through all the day-to-day mundane tasks of life, more than the clearly ceremonial times. The healing medicine of story does not exist in a vacuum.”¹ —Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés
This is why we can call stories “medicine”; and the medicine I am offering you might be just the right thing. Whether that is to learn from, or maybe just to witness or reflect on.
Midwife Stories subscription means all of the stories are available to you to listen to when you desire.
Stories stick around, way past our own lives and experiences.
I am so honored to tell these tales, and honored if you are an energy match to receiving them.
