why I dislike women’s circle

I wanted to say that it’s ok if you have NO IDEA what a circle is, or what it means.

I realize that “women’s circles” are maybe a thing of the past in some places, or alternatively, something you’ve heard of that seems maybe weird or uncomfortable.

I want to share with you that I GET THAT, and actually quit my participation in a local, in-person women’s circle a few years ago because it…..so did not fit me.

I am NOT someone that wants to dance around by the fire (unless I know you well; I swear I cannot dance:) and I certainly am not doing that in a costume.  The one women’s circle I attended seemed more like a performance, and it was fake and weird and full of ego.

SO….if that has been your experience of a women’s circle, please know that this is not that.  The women in this circle are around the country, in Canada too, and are real and fun and living their normal, beautiful, lives without a lot of show and broadcasting.

Another version of a women’s circle I was in MANY years ago was sort of uncomfortable as well because it was such intimate topics and I didn’t really feel like sharing.  At least until I knew people, which sometimes doesn’t actually happen in these circles because women are so transient (the bad part about offering free, community get togethers).  

I am ready to open up and share when I have a chance to gauge the energy and get to know people a bit.  There is room for you to do that too, and you are welcome to never share if you don’t want to!  Learning to be vulnerable or getting comfortable getting SEEN can be the one reason you are called to this experience, and no one will will judge you or rush you.

This is one way to share that my Circle is a fun and meaningful word but don’t let it intimidate you!  We are just women looking for like minded support sisters.
