Have you thought about the fact that many professions, including midwifery, will be heavily influenced and changed by AI?
It freaks me out, to be honest. I am not someone that sees the “positives” of technology used in a way that essentially steals from human creativity. And makes things up!
That was a lesson I learned one of the first and last times I consulted AI to give me book suggestions about something birth related (I think it was using touch in midwifery).
AI MADE UP FAKE BOOKS FOR ME; THEY DID NOT AND DO NOT ACTUALLY EXIST.
I am still so floored by this. And so, can you imagine the quality of knowledge and information that will soon be “made up” about all things pregnancy and birth?
People (maybe you or me) won’t be able to tell the difference; initially.
Student midwives may gain the bulk of their “knowledge” from this soulless beast.
Care that actual midwives give is already being influenced by AI. I don’t want to be that client!
Why am I sharing these thoughts and my full, honest opinion that this is disastrous?
Because actual EXPERIENCE, wisdom and true human adventures and stories will be lost. Potentially.
I despise AI. But I love creativity, and I love humanness.
And I love learning through hearing stories.
I’m offering you the chance to hear my stories as a midwife; from prenatal interesting tales, to birth stories, to the ways these experiences have changed ME. My stories are not better than any other person, but they are mine, and if you are a student of birth in any way, you would be silly (!!) to not take advantage of this.
Again, not because my stories are superior but because they are unique stories you cannot hear anywhere else.
The story telling is open! Join now, and I will start sending them to you to easily listen to beginning August 1.
These will be part of your real/human/true treasure chest of learning; not some fractionated, artificial AI thing, and not some boring piece of clinical knowledge from a conference.
