Listen In As I Talk About What I Learned as a Homebirth Midwife Attending More than a Dozen Births Over the Course of a Year
If you’re a birthworker, studying to be one, or just want to hear about what it’s like to be a midwife supporting women, listen in as a I review a full year of births. Hear what happened, what I learned and how it all changed me. (The stories have been anonymized and changed a bit to protect privacy.)
I realized after recording I left a few out because technically I wasn’t present. But for the records sake (and because I still cared so much for these women!) one woman experienced a very very preterm birth (in the hospital, obviously and all is well!) and we had at least one special client who needed to move out of state.
I’ve been attending homebirths for almost 20 years and 16 years in the role of midwife.
Birth never ceases to amaze, surprise and inspire me.
If you’d like to, notice your own body as you are listening. What does each story make you feel? What does it allow you to remember or what does the story DO to or for you? What wisdom or insights are you left with?
Storytelling is so powerful. Enjoy!
