Erny came to me with lots in her head about her upcoming birth; fears and ideas and expectations. None of those things are “bad” and I’d say they are really, really normal especially in pregnancy! But my response was to use this session to see what was there for her, rather than going into the chatter in her head.
I love this session because it’s such an honest example of the simple way our bodies show up when we have support and they are paid attention to, and how much they crave this support of another nervous system and also how easily they want to find even a small amount of peace.
Somatic work is also great at addressing deeper patterns and fears in the body, as well as traumas. But, I believe this session is a great example of how we BEGIN and lay a foundation. Slow, intentional with no rush and being open to what comes.
A session similar to this is typical at first; if someone does more sessions, we go deeper each time as the body allows. Eventually, we can heal from major trauma.
Thanks to mama Erny for allowing me to share this session. We actually didn’t plan to share it; but it got recorded and turned out to be such a great demo. I love this session for showing how somatic work can create the framework anything from momentary safety in the body to healing deep wounds.
Let me know what questions come up for you as you view this, and if it resonates for you in your own body as way of support and healing that is calling you!
I love and believe deeply in this amazing work and would be honored to support your nervous system.
“This type of session was a first for me. I went into it not really knowing what to expect. I am currently in the final weeks of pregnancy and was feeling a bit rundown and defeated. Rather than turning on my thinking brain and chatting about it, this somatic session really helped me turn to my body and how I was feeling. Maryn was a great guide during the session, helping me to understand and tune into what I was physically feeling. It made me slow down and truly feel what was happening in my body. During the session, I noticed feeling tension and tightness in certain areas. But, as the session continued, I felt more within my body and was able to notice something as simple as the way my finger tips softly rested on my legs – which was quite soothing for me. Toward the close of the session my body even felt the desire to gently sway back and forth (like rocking a baby). This seemed to be the way my body was finding peace. And all this in just the first session. It was a great experience and eye-opener to simply taking the time to feel. Thanks Maryn! With love – XOXO Erny“
