We are in a season of winter holidays ( at least here in the Western hemisphere) and with that, for many, seems to come with stress, some degree of chaos or not being true to ourselves or what feels “right”.
What are the “holidays” to me? It is a time of darkness, stillness, quiet, cozy family stuff, and a gathering of energy to begin creating again soon.
No matter what you chose to celebrate this time of year; Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or “nothing”….we do all have one thing in common and that is that we are here on Earth, beneath the stars, Sun and Moon.
The change of seasons and the beginning of Winter has been celebrated for eons; and can still be honored, even amongst the present day icons like Santa and the Reindeer.
This is an opportunity for us all to remember how to connect with a season; and with something deeper and wiser than this gift-giving, party going, exhausting few weeks.
Winter Solstice is the simple acknowledgment that the days are getting shorter and “the Solstice” proper (usually around December 21) is the LONGEST night of the year. This has ritual symbolism and also practicality attached to it.
This is a special time for celebration, reflection, intention, and for claiming this hour for yourself.
I will be leading a joyous, simple, and fun virtual gathering on Friday, December 20 at 8 pm Eastern.
Let this be the hour that is for you; the one that likely “does all things” during this time of year. Perhaps this is a simple gift you give yourself; aside from the hustle and bustle and mainstream programming, this can be a time of immense beauty and stillness.
You can look forward to a guided meditation, somatic exercises to calm the system and help with the collective stress, as well as time to journal and reflect on what this means for you. If I could share eggnog across the screen I would:) but feel free to come with a warm drink, a cozy place to sit and a candle lit.
**YOU WILL BE SENT THE RECORDING IF YOU ENROLL AND MAY VIEW IT AT ANY TIME**
